Beating the EPA to It's Own Punch
It's bad enough that we are victimized by the regulations of the EPA, but now Missouri's Attorney General is suing the EPA, not because its regulations violate individual rights, but because it isn't violating those rights effectively enough.
ST. LOUIS - Missouri's attorney general sued the federal environmental agency on Friday, saying it is behind on testing the state's air for lead as required by law.
State attorney general Jay Nixon said in a news release the federal lawsuit seeks to force the Environmental Protection Agency (news - web sites) to comply with the Clean Air Act by conducting the air quality test.
He said a review is required every five years but one has not been done since December 1990.
"Although the adverse effects of lead on human health are well-known, the EPA has been derelict in its duty to review the air quality standard for lead and protect Missouri families," Nixon said.
Somebody give this guy an award! Great job nudging the government the minute it forgets to stand on someone's back.
